Nothing Ordinary about the Ordinary Foundations
Confession Time! The simplicity and the inexpensiveness of this brand made me ask myself "How good will these really be?" I'm the type of person to think that the price of the product really reflects on the way it will perform therefore, ignorantly I was put off purchasing these for the longest time. I feel so silly now because fast forward a couple of months and I am OBSESSED!
I was running low on my favourite Maybelline foundation and because I have used it for so long now, I was getting kind of bored of it. The main selling point for me was the variety of shades available and also the differentiation between pink and yellow undertones. I purchased both The Coverage Foundation and The Serum Foundation. The one thing that really appealed to me was the fact that they're both so light in texture which I LOVE simply because it doesn't make my skin feel heavy or cakey. I was mostly surprised to see this in the Coverage foundation, yes it is a tad thicker than the serum foundation however it's still a lot thinner than most foundations.
I use the shade 2.1y- I find this shade the most perfect for my NC35-40 complexion- it's yellow under-toned which makes it perfect for my olive-toned skin, I'm not left with that grey finish most foundations leave. Another selling point for me was the fact that it is FRAGRANCE FREE! My biggest pet peeve in products is any face products which are heavily scented for NO reason.
The Coverage foundations £5.90:
When I hear the word coverage- I instantly think rich textured and thick in consistency, well this one isn't, it's thin based. The coverage is definitely there and you'd get a full coverage look by building it up. The one thing I have found with this is the fact that it oxidises a lot throughout the day. I definitely see a darker tinge later on the day. In this case I usually mix it with another foundation or sometimes a moisturiser to stop it from oxidising too much
The Serum Foundation £5.70:
This foundation has won me OVER! I am so in love with the finish, the way it glides on the skin, the thinness and the comfort my skin feels when I've got it on. The only other foundation that I can compare this with is my NARS sheer glow and this isn't even an exaggeration. The quality of this foundation does NOT reflect the price. I'm so surprised at how cheap it is yet how amazingly it performs. Once applied it gives me a healthy glow and feel so moisturising. Its thin consistency makes it a dream to blend in the skin. I apply it with my Real Techniques buffing brush and find that this leaves me streak free and flawless. Unlike the coverage foundation this one does not oxidise. I find my self reaching for this foundation whenever I need a pick me up to make me look healthy and wide awake! I 101% recommend this foundation- I've already picked up back ups!!
Overall, I am so happy that I purchased these products. The serum foundation will forever be a favourite of mine. I've found a perfect dupe for my much loved NARS foundation but at the fraction of a price, this means I can use it as much as I like without feeling guilty and feeling a hole in my pocket!
